2026 marks a key transition period for the drone industry in Thailand. CAAT has introduced new criteria for operations beyond standard conditions (Specific Category), alongside broader developments in technology, commercial use, and future regulatory direction such as Drone Delivery, eVTOL, and autonomous aircraft systems.
The new requirements cover training, pilot authorization (Rating), flight permission via the UAS Portal, insurance, and pre-operation risk assessment. Meanwhile, general use (Hobby / VLOS) remains unchanged under existing regulations.
