Matrice 4E and DJI Terra Workflow for Enterprise 3D Data Creation
From Aerial Imaging
to Real-World 3D Data Workflow
DJI Matrice 4E (M4E) and DJI Terra are designed to transform drones from simple aerial imaging tools into professional systems for creating usable 2D and 3D data.
The workflow enables users to capture, process, and render spatial data for real-world applications such as:
-
Structural Inspection
-
Architecture
-
Construction & Infrastructure
-
Conservation
-
Spatial Analysis
This is the starting point of moving from consumer drone operation into a true Enterprise Drone Workflow.

Location: Saphan Hin Mining Monument
Matrice 4E Operator: Instructor Gino
DJI Terra Processing: Instructor Gino
This example demonstrates the creation of a 3D model of the “Sapan Hin Mining Monument” in Phuket, Thailand, using DJI Matrice 4E together with Smart 3D Capture and processed through DJI Terra, created by Instructor Gino at DTTC.
This project showcases how enterprise drone technology can be applied to generate 3D data for architectural conservation, structural documentation, and digital archiving of historically significant locations.
The Sapan Hin Mining Monument is one of Phuket’s important historical landmarks, representing the region’s tin mining heritage. The Sapan Hin area was historically associated with the world’s first tin dredging operations introduced into Tongkah Bay in 1909, which later became a major milestone in the development of the tin mining industry across Southeast Asia.
This example highlights the capability of DJI Matrice 4E and DJI Terra in creating 3D data from real-world locations for structural visualization, analysis, and digital presentation workflow.
Beyond architectural and conservation purposes, workflows like this can also be expanded into a wide range of future enterprise-level applications.
Why 3D Data from Drones Matters
In enterprise operations, the value is no longer just about “beautiful aerial imagery”
but about “usable data for real-world applications.”
2D / 3D drone workflow helps organizations:
-
Visualize structural details more clearly
-
Analyze areas with greater accuracy
-
Reduce time spent on-site
-
Lower operational cost and risk
-
Generate data for inspection and planning
In addition, 3D data can also support:
-
Architectural conservation and documentation
-
Structural condition analysis
-
Long-term digital archiving
-
Visualization and presentation workflow
-
Educational and exhibition models
-
Future Digital Heritage development
This is why 2D / 3D technology is becoming a new standard across multiple industries and an important foundation of modern Enterprise Drone Workflow.
Matrice 4E and Smart 3D Capture

One of the key advantages of the Matrice 4E is its integrated Smart 3D Capture system.
The platform can:
-
Automatically plan capture paths
-
Capture oblique imagery around structures
-
Generate rough 3D previews directly on the remote controller
-
Reduce missing data and re-flight requirements
-
Simplify complex 3D acquisition workflow
-
This allows operators to verify data quality immediately while still on-site.
DJI Terra Workflow
(The Core of the System)

Captured data from the Matrice 4E is processed inside DJI Terra to generate professional 2D and 3D outputs.
